Picasso and Lump

This week we framed this delightful Picasso print called "The Dog." Jeff, my assistant, and I felt it had a wonderful whimsical quality as well as a certain sophistication in its simplicity. It had a wide white 8 ply mat with a 2" wide black satin frame that had a bead on the inside lip.

It lasted all of two hours in the window before one of our loyal customers came in and insisted that it must belong to her. Not a surprise, she is a dachshund owner - Bunny. The really interesting thing she revealed was that she knew the name of the actual dog in Picasso's image - Lump. "Lump" means rascal in German.

The next day our friend brought to me a copy of Picasso & Lump by David Duncan. It is a great photo journal about Lump's life with Picasso. Alan Riding wrote a good synopsis of the book published in The New York Times on August 26, 2006. Check it out >>

Make a memorable week! -Lynn
